ADVICE & CARE
Toilet training your cat
Cats are naturally clean, so toilet training is simply a matter of bringing out their natural instincts. Provide a litter tray and fresh litter in a quiet, private place. Place your cat in the litter tray after a meal or sleep, and scratch the litter with its paw.
If you see your cat try to go to the toilet somewhere else, pick it up and place it in the litter try. Every time your cat uses the tray, lavish it with praise, and you’ll have it toilet trained in no time.
Types of cat litter
Not all litters are the same! Different types of litter suit different cats and cat owners:
Biodegradable litter is perfect for the environmentally aware cat owner. It’s made from renewable plant resources, typically recycled newspaper or phone books.
Crystal litter is suited to the cat owner who is sensitive to sights and smells. It has excellent moisture and odour control and the highest absorbency of any litter.
Clumping litter is the most popular litter, and a great choice for most cat lovers. It's made of granules that clump together when wet to form a mass that's easy to scoop and dispose of.
Non-clumping litter is clay based. Some cat owners choose it over clumping because they prefer a more natural choice.
